Being Your Own Cheerleader

Life has it’s ups and downs, and sometimes we find ourselves in desperate need of a good pep talk. This past year has been pretty rocky for me and I felt completely off my game. I was doubting every decision, and it really caused everything in my life to suffer. From my work, parenting and relationships.

I’ve never really dealt with this kind of funk before let alone have it keep ahold of me for an entire year. But I got to thinking about it and I believe everyone goes through these spells. I believe the most important thing to do during times like these is to love yourself a little bit more and not give up hope! Sometimes we have to be our own cheerleaders – our own source of motivation. It can be easy to start feeling down in the dumps and let things like rude comments, comparison and the mundane of life get you down. That’s why it’s so important to know how to have your own back when life knocks you down.

There are a few things I have found recently to help pick me back up and start kicking ass and taking names!

First, I like to set aside some time to read, journal and manifest my life. Find what really feels good with my soul. Something about a woman’s intuition that if I listen to it will never send me in the wrong direction. Setting my true intentions into the universe I believe really gives them some power.

I also think it’s super important to be gentle and kind to ourselves. The world is moving so fast, especially when you are a parent. And as mothers in this millennia there’s always a constant pressure to be the best. We have to remember to give ourselves moments of rest and self care, where we can be real with ourselves. I try to find an hour or two a week (yes a week), I know that seems impossible for some of us. I never used to make time for myself then everything built up and it took me over a year to unbury myself. I like to use my special hour or two for a hot bath, a soothing face mask, journal or even curling up with a good book.

The last thing I like to do is give myself a small pep talks throughout the day. We all talk to ourselves, right? May as well make it productive, like your own self care podcast! I will think of all the things I am grateful for as well as some of the success I have had. I also like to read over motivational quotes that really inspire me. As someone who believes in manifesting, of course I believe there’s a lot of power in positive words. Sometimes just being thankful for the good things in our life instead of always searching for something better.
